I want everyone to be able to read Simple Money Advice and use its calculators, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, or other assistive technology.
The standard I aim for
The goal is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. The site was last reviewed against WCAG 2.2 AA in October 2026, using automated testing on every page plus manual keyboard and zoom checks, and the issues found are being fixed.
What's in place
- A "Skip to content" link and a single main content area on every page.
- A menu that works fully from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline on every link, button and field.
- Labels on every calculator field, and alt text on images.
- Text colors chosen to meet the WCAG contrast ratio.
- Calculator results are announced to screen readers when they change, and option buttons say which one is selected.
- Pages reflow without sideways scrolling down to 320 pixels wide (400% zoom), wide tables can be scrolled from the keyboard, and animations are turned off if your system asks for reduced motion.
Known gaps
- Ads (Google AdSense), the newsletter signup form (Beehiiv) and embedded videos (YouTube) come from other companies. I can't fully control how accessible they are.
Tell me if something gets in your way
If any page, calculator or feature is hard to use with the way you browse, email simplemoneyadvice123@gmail.com with the page address and what happened. I'll reply, fix what I can, and get you the information you were looking for another way in the meantime.
